There’s a definite west-coast vibe in the latest show home by Lexis Homes. Located in The Meadows at 251 Greyeyes-Steele Way, this brand new floor plan from Lexis is called The Lark.

With hickory finishes and pops of navy blue and green decor, the family-friendly home is definitely channelling a relaxed chic vibe.

The home is a 1,991 square-foot, two-storey Holmes-Approved home. The home is designed to fit on a narrower city lot and maximize the available space. “We’ve jam-packed a lot in here,” says Liz Carswell from Lexis. The result is a home that is perfect for a busy, modern family that “ticks all the boxes.”

When visitors enter the home, they will be greeted by a feature wall with hickory wood panelling and alcoves to show off artwork for framed photos. The hickory picks up tones of grey while still feeling natural and welcoming.

Last weekend was the first opportunity for the public to see The Lark and Carswell said the feedback was very positive.

Coming home to the Lark would be a joy with a mud room that boasts tons of customized built-in lockers and organization helpers. It feeds right into the walk-through Butler’s pantry with more built-ins and storage. The built-in microwave is also located in the pantry to give more space to cabinetry. The pantry also boasts a window to keep the space bright and beautiful.

The main living area is open with a contemporary fireplace and sculptural mantle. Tons of natural light flood into the space from the oversized windows.

Upstairs, there are three bedrooms and bonus for the family to enjoy. The master bedroom is spacious and bright. Of course, the ensuite is like a spa hotel with a gorgeous stone detailed shower with glass door. There’s the dual sink vanity and a makeup table, so getting ready in the morning will be a breeze.

The west-coast inspiration even extends to the exterior with architectural details in a mix of hardie-board, stone and cedar wood. The result is appealing right from the curb. The show home also backs onto walking paths, a park and a playground, ensuring privacy and easy green space access.

Lexis has also become known for their Holmes-Approved homes. The particular home has been inspected and certified Holmes-Approved. Energy upgrades include R24 batt insulation in exterior walls, R60 in attic, R28 in basement walls, and R10 rigid Styrofoam insulation under basement slab, plus triple plane, low E argon windows.

The Saskatoon and Region Home Builders Association Parade of Homes is on until Sept. 16. Visit the Lexis show home at 251 Greyeyes-Steele Way. The show home is open Monday to Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Sunday and holidays from noon to 5 p.m.

A Day In the Life: Experience the Evoke Floor Plan

Picture this. It’s a Sunday morning in early autumn. There’s no alarm set, so you wake up naturally to the birds chirping, raise the blinds and take in the fall colour outside. The morning sunlight spills into your bedroom and your ensuite bath, creating a shimmering glow on the shower tiles.

After you lather, rinse and repeat, you make breakfast with your family and enjoy it together at your gleaming kitchen island. You compare notes for the day ahead. Your parents are coming for dinner, so there will be a trip to the farmers’ market for groceries, and your daughter needs help with her homework.

As you make your grocery list, you step inside your spacious walk-in pantry to take inventory of what you already have. Its smartly organized shelving is well stocked, so it’s only a matter of seconds before you realize you just need to pick up a few fresh vegetables to round out your dinner plan.

Walk-in Pantry

Before heading out, you sit down with your daughter in your home office just steps away from the kitchen to help her tackle her homework. You’re still close to the action, but have the option to close the door for peace and quiet in times like this. It’s also the perfect space to sit down and pay bills, or work on your side hustle.

Home Office

Post farmers’ market, you still have time to spare before your parents arrive, so you check in on your family and then squeeze in 30 minutes of yoga in the bright, airy flex space at the top of the stairs. You’re grateful to have this extra breathing room in the house, with the option to convert it to another bedroom or office if your family’s needs change in the future.

Upstairs Bonus Room

Fast forward to evening, and your parents have arrived. Your partner helms the barbecue on the back deck, your daughter helps make a salad and your parents keep the conversation and the wine flowing from the kitchen island, while you pull the rest together. There’s plenty of space for everyone to pitch in. As you sit down to eat at the dining table, a fire glows nearby in the living room fireplace—it’s open-concept living at its finest.

Living Room

After dinner, everyone gathers in the living room to chat around fire, with hot apple cider from the farmers’ market in hand. It’s a cosy way to cap off the weekend, but it’s not over yet. Once your parents make their way home, and your kids are in bed, you decide to take a Sunday-night soak in your free-standing tub with a good book and a glass of wine. As you relax and unwind, you take a moment to appreciate a well-lived weekend in your well-designed home.

Award Winning Floor Plan: The Elate

The Elate Floor Plan by Lexis Homes in Saskatoon

Here at Lexis, we’ve created our fair share of fantastic floor plans. After designing and building plenty of beautiful new homes in Saskatoon, we’ve learned what works, and what doesn’t. That’s what has helped make this an award winning floor plan (2017 Bridges Award for Best Production Home Over 1300 sq ft).

For our newest floor plan, The Elate, we’ve brought together all the elements that a stylish and functional new home requires. From the welcoming front porch, to the luxurious ensuite, to the optional covered porches, bonus room and garage extension, we’ve thought of everything our clients need to create a happy home.

Let’s take a tour, shall we?

It all starts with classic curb appeal. The inviting front porch is bookended by elegant columns, giving the home a refined craftsman feel. Stepping inside, you’ll find a casual foyer with a practical storage and bench seating. Moving further into the home, you’ll pass a second storage closet and a powder room, discreetly tucked around a corner for privacy.

The heart of this home is the open-plan kitchen, living and dining area. The generous kitchen island serves as the hub of activity in this airy, light-filled space. A large walk-through butler pantry offers ample storage and extra work space, while the kitchen provides plenty of counter space. A sophisticated dry bar sits adjacent to the kitchen and living room, adding extra space for storing your Prairie Sun brew, your pinot, or for prepping a cocktail (we hear the drink of summer is champagne on ice).

Whatever your drink of choice, you’ll want to take it outside to the porch overlooking the backyard, accessible from the dining area. If you prefer the shade, there’s an option to make this a covered porch. When the days get shorter and the air gets more brisk, you’ll appreciate getting cosy by the glowing fireplace while watching the snow fall outside the expansive windows.

Upstairs, no detail was overlooked. The master bedroom boasts a spa-like ensuite with a dual-sink vanity and a separate tub and shower. It wouldn’t be complete without a sizable walk-in closet. For homebuyers who love to put their feet up outdoors—with a little privacy—a second-floor deck accessible from the master is a great option to consider. Two additional bedrooms on this level share a bathroom and linen closet. The laundry room is conveniently located next to the linen closet.

We know our homebuyers love to have choice when it comes to extra features. For those who need the space, there’s an optional bonus room that can be added above the garage. And the garage itself can be extended to create space for a workshop, an extra vehicle or sports equipment.

At 2054 square feet, with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, The Elate is a spacious, elegant home that fits well on a 44 foot (or larger) lot. Don’t have land to build on? Check out our available lots here.

If you think you’ll love coming home to The Elate, you can see our show home at 126 Gillies Lane in Rosewood. Our hours of operation are listed here. Alternatively, you can contact us to learn more. We’d be happy to hear from you.

A Day in the Life in the Urbane – our featured floor plan

Imagine waking up on a Friday morning and starting your day with a shower in your luxurious ensuite bathroom. You then make your way to your spacious, walk-in closet to pick out your clothes. Everything – from clothing, to shoes and accessories – is organized amongst the custom built-in shelving. You can see everything you own, and getting ready is a breeze.

You head downstairs. Your partner has already made the coffee and you enjoy your breakfast together at the large, quartz-topped kitchen island. The sun streams through the large windows, flooding your open-concept kitchen, living room and dining area with natural light.

Your partner leaves for work and you make your way to your home office, as you’re working from home today. You open the window, letting the fresh spring breeze blow in.

In the afternoon, a client drops in for a meeting and says that your house is beautiful. She’s been there before, but can’t help but admire it each time she visits. She tells all her friends how incredible it is (we’re not exaggerating – this does happen to our clients!). You stop to appreciate the layout of the space — having the office on the main level means you don’t have to bring clients upstairs to a second-floor office (and helps you avoid all the last minute tidying that might entail).

The Urbane floor plan - Dining room

Later that evening, you have friends over for dinner. You whip up dinner with your partner while your guests relax in the living room. The open layout means you’re still part of the conversation. One of the guests brings his drink to the kitchen island and helps you chop vegetables — there’s plenty of counter space to share. Your favourite music streams through the speakers in the ceiling.

This is a day in the life for owners of our Urbane home design. And if that day didn’t sound appealing enough, here are a few more benefits of this functional floor plan:

  • Buy a boat, snowmobile, or a third vehicle? There’s an option to add a garage extension giving you that extra space you need to securely store your investment.
  • Love to dine outside in the summer? The Urbane design allows you to add a covered deck in the backyard, with easy access to the kitchen. We’ll include a gas line for your barbecue too!
  • If your family expands, there’s space in the basement to add a fourth bedroom and an extra bathroom. This isn’t your typical basement either: the raised main floor allows us to install large basement windows, creating a bright, airy space.
