Hargreaves home design revealed

Exterior of raised bunglaw home design

Exterior rendering of raised bungalow at 703 Hargreaves Cres

We now have our Hampton Village home design nearly completed. We will be building this home at 703 Hargreaves Crescent.

Our goal for this house design was to take advantage of the park views out front and to design an exterior that was unique and modern but still fit in well with the neighbourhood.

As you can see from the exterior rendering, we have set the garage nearly flush with the home so that it does not dominate the front of the home. We then added some wood accents to the front entrance and garage area. A simple garage door and roof were also incorporated into the design to minimize the attention to these areas.

We have designed this house as a raised bungalow. As a result you will notice that there are more steps on the exterior. The benefits of the raised bungalow are that you get large basement windows (like you would in a bi-level) but you don’t have to contend with stairs as soon as you walk into the home.

To take advantage of the park views we incorporated an abundance of windows at the front and side of the home. (See 3D renderings below). These windows go to 8 feet in height and will also allow for a lot of light to enter the home due to the Southern exposure.

The kitchen design is still in the works as of right now but it will include 2 islands, a pantry, plenty of windows/light in the dining area, and a very open concept. There is also direct access to the kitchen from the garage entrance / mudroom which is a great feature when bringing in groceries or other items!

Overall the design and interior finishing will have a modern feel with clean lines and an open concept. Although the 3D renderings show the overall layout of the home, the actual finishing items, focal points, materials, etc are not shown in the rendering.

Pricing for this home is still in the works. Feel free to contact us for more information!

BOLD on BROADWAY –New plans unveiled

New home in Saskatoon

Modern home in Saskatoon – Broadway Avenue

We talk a lot about creating homes that are different than the norm. This is why we are pretty excited about how our plans are unfolding for our new project on Broadway. This location is going to give us a lot of latitude to be creative!

The reasons are two-fold:

1. There are no exterior architectural controls in the area that “force” us to build “standard design” homes.

2. The area / atmosphere lends itself well to the trendy / modern styles that we like to use.

For example, it is quite standard in new neighbourhoods in Saskatoon (like Willowgrove) where a home must have a minimum roof pitch of 6/12 and a double garage is mandatory in the front of a house.

We are not using either of these concepts in the Broadway townhome. We will be implementing a “flat roof look” on this design. It will incorporate the great look and style of flat roofs without some of the issues associated with “true” flat roofs.

We are also using brick accents on the house to escape the “norm” of using stone on the exterior. Cedar soffits and accents are currently in the design plans as well!

This project will be taking place at 1210 Broadway Avenue in Saskatoon. This location is one and a half blocks South of 8th St. It is a short walk to the heart of Broadway and also in close proximity to downtown.

The project start date is early to mid May 2010. The anticipated completion date is September 2010.

Stay tuned for more blog posts about the interior design and the project progress.
