We spent the last few weeks trying to reuse a number of items from the old Broadway house in Saskatoon before it was time to tear it down. We were able to salvage some of the doors, kitchen cabinets, newer windows, air conditioning, appliances, plumbing fixtures, shed and even some perennials out front! We actually tried to sell the whole house (for only $2000) but didn’t have any takers. I still can’t get over that one.
After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, we finally received our demolition permit for the home. Then the fun began!
As you will see in the video above, this backhoe easily cuts through the house like butter. Just watch how it gives the garage a bit of a bump and then pushes it over!
In this next video you can see how the roof gets ripped apart at the back of the house.
The last video is my favorite! It looks like something out of a movie the way the bucket is smashing against the front door and then rips the wall right down.
The entire process only took about 20 minutes to complete. The backhoe operator told me the toughest part was not hitting the neighbour’s house with the walls!
As a new home builder it amazes me how many months of work there is putting together all of the components in a home …… and how it can be completely undone in the matter of 20 minutes. Crazy!
The next step is to start constructing the new modern home in the heart of Saskatoon.
